Arsenal has spectacularly bombed out of the FA Cup after being beaten by 3 goals to 1 at Stoke City.

It appears they fielded a pretty inexperienced team of virtual unknowns. Complacency or sheer stupidity, the end result is the same that the Gunners have been booted for England's oldest football tournament.

Oh well, this should quell Mr Brown's scurilous accusations that I only post when I win.

As I mentioned yesterday there isn't much football being played today, New Year's Eve. This has given me a little opportunity to check out the form of the Blue Square Premier League teams in action tomorrow, New Year's Day.

Stevenage Borough are riding high in the table, having lost in only two of their 26 matches this season. Second place Boro shouldn't, at least on paper, have too much difficulty beating middle of the road Cambridge United who are suffering poor away form at the moment.

Elsewhere in the league the teams are pretty closely matched, so I'm going out on a limb that Salisbury will beat Histon. Given that Histon are seven places above Salisbury this could look a foolish decision. However, Salisbury's low position is due to the fact they were docked 10 points for going into administration earlier in the season.

I'm going out on a limb here by declaring that I've won my earlier Germany-Slovenia bet even though there's 10 minutes left on the clock.

It's more a question of how many goals Germany will win by, as they're currently 3-0 up (now at 84 minutes).

With about 20 minutes remaining in the Italy-Hungary match I couldn't resist having a £5 in play bet on Italy to pull back a goal and secure a 90-minute draw at odds of 13/5. I'm glad to say I won that bet too, but I'll not be including that in tonight's official total.
